NRSG1960 : Foundations of Professional Nursing and Applications

Course content is centered around the introduction of the nursing process in support of critical thinking and nursing judgment for the provision of evidence-based, patient centered care. The foundation of nursing practice encompasses the care of culturally diverse patients experiencing health deficits across the lifespan. This course includes an inquiry into ethical, legal and regulatory requirements, the standards of professional nursing practice, chronic illness, disability, and end of life needs. Principles, concepts, and theories from the natural and social sciences in relation to safe nursing care are applied to patients and families. Students will demonstration critical thinking and nursing judgment for the provision of evidence-based patient and family centered care in the health care setting.
